Ingredients

For the casserole
  • 4 can (14.5 oz) cut green beans drained
  • 2 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 cup French fried onions
For the topping
  • 1 cup French fried onions

Equipment

  • 1 4-quart slow cooker

Method

Cook the casserole
  1. In a 4-quart slow cooker, stir together the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and 1/2 cup French fried onions.
  2. Cover the slow cooker.
  3. Cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or on HIGH for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until hot throughout.
Finish with the topping
  1. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup French fried onions over the casserole just before serving.

Notes

For the crispiest topping, add the French fried onions just before serving. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy sauce and topping can lose their texture. For a gluten-free variation, use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup and French fried onions.
